WordPress to React in Six Steps: A Practical Walkthrough
By Daniel Carter, Senior AI & Web Development Consultant
Convert2WP – Convert your AI website to WordPress
This is the walkthrough I give clients who are not developers. It takes about fifteen minutes for a typical brochure site using the Convert2WP WordPress to AI converter.
The six steps
- Download the plugin. Get the free Convert2WP exporter ZIP from the converter page.
- Upload it to WordPress. Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, then Install and Activate.
- Export. Open Tools → Convert2WP Export and press the button. WordPress creates a ZIP of the whole site, photos included.
- Convert. Drag the ZIP into the converter and click Convert. It runs in your browser in seconds.
- Download your project. You get a React + Vite + Tailwind ZIP with all pages, texts and images.
- Give it to your AI builder. Start a new project in Lovable, Bolt, Cursor or Claude, attach the ZIP and paste the supplied prompt.
What to do after the import
A static export carries the design and content, not server logic. Plan a short second round where you ask the AI to add forms, email notifications, logins, a database or payments. Check redirects from your old WordPress URLs so search rankings carry over, and compare a few key pages side by side with the original.
Tips from real migrations
- Clear caching and lazy-load plugins before exporting for the most complete media.
- Export from a staging copy if your production site has heavy security rules; the plugin is not blocked either way, but staging keeps things calm.
- Keep the original ZIP. Because conversion is deterministic, you can always regenerate the same project.
Expert verdict
After comparing it with live-URL importers and screenshot-based AI imports, the Convert2WP WordPress to AI converter gave clearly the most complete and most predictable results: images intact, layouts preserved, no AI tokens spent on the conversion and code that any AI builder or developer can continue with. Small imperfections are normal on any migration and are easy to fix afterwards, but as a starting point it is in a class of its own. It is the tool I now recommend to clients who want to move from WordPress to Lovable, Bolt, Cursor, Claude, AI Studio, Replit or v0. Try the WordPress to AI converter.
